These technologies have enhanced the practice of self-education where health care is concerned

Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)

What is it?
A technology that stores radiological images digitally.

How is it used?
Healthcare professionals can call up images (standard x-ray, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, etc.) on high-resolution computer screens and share images over distances through computer networks. What are the advantages?
Decrease in time spent for many people involved – physicians, patients, patients' families and friends

Facilitates a quicker turn-around from the time when the images are captured to when an evaluation from the radiologist reaches the patient's primary care provider.
In short, the image reaches the desk of the radiologist in a very fast speed.

Advantages and the uses of Computer Technologies in the Healthcare setting

1.Paper records requires more time and need more storage space.
Using computer technologies:
Less time spent
Less storage space needed
Able to find patients’ records easily

2.When doctors order the lab test and view result, we do not need to go and get the result from the laboratory.
Just type in the data info of the patients.
Able to track the result from the laboratory easily
Save time.

3.To pay the hospitalization bill
We use the billing software and capture the bill for the length of stay.

4.For the follow up appointments
Use the computer technologies:
To update the appointment for that patient.
Inform and to remind the doctors about the patient’s appointment
